2018 Linda Flowers Literary Award Recipient Announced

CHARLOTTE, NC (November 14, 2018) – On November 3, 2018 the North Carolina Humanities Council announced Ms. Jennifer Brown as the recipient of its 2018 Linda Flowers Literary Award for her entry of “Landscape with Death and Birth.”

This year’s judges, Hannah Dela Cruz Abrams, Luke Hankins, and Alice Osborn, described Brown’s work as a “very well-written, thoughtful essay,” whose “narrative felt attentive and deliberate” and showed “maturity on the page.”

Humanities Program Excellence Award Presented to Jane Austen Summer Program

On August 26, 2018 the North Carolina Humanities Council awarded its Harlan Joel Gradin Award for Excellence in the Public Humanities to the Jane Austen Summer Program (JASP).

JASP is an annual, multi- day symposium that focuses on one of Jane Austen’s works each summer. The program is designed for scholars, students, teachers and anyone with a passion for Jane Austen.
