DESCRIPTION:May 21\, 10-11 a.m.\, Documenting the Disaster: Facilitating Community-Driven Archiving in the Wake of Hurricane Helene. Katherine Calhoun Cutshall\, Manager of Buncombe County Special Collections (and SHRAB member)\, will discuss both process and content for a project to collect community memories after Hurricane Helene\, Come Hell or Highwater. Library staff created a repository for digital materials in direct response to ways they witnessed community members documenting experiences. With crowdsourcing as a central methodology for the creation of this archive\, the main goal is to offer permanence to the fleeting moments the community has captured on digital media. Register.

DESCRIPTION:PTSD: The Invisible Enemy is a 60-minute documentary about the effects post traumatic stress disorder is having on our military veterans.  More than 31\,000 Global War on Terror veterans have taken their own lives. United States combat fatalities in the war were 7\,000. The film is narrated by Joe Mantegna\, best known from the television program Criminal Minds and as the host of the national Memorial Day Concert. A panel discussion will follow the showing.

Noble Moorish general Othello\, secretly married to his beloved Desdemona\, chooses his friend Cassio for a promotion rather than his trusted but duplicitous ensign\, Iago. Enraged\, Iago weaves a complex scheme that spirals into a frenzy of suspicion\, ultimately leading to tragic acts of violence and irreversible loss. \nThis gripping 90-minute production preserves the classic language and core story of the full play\, making it perfect for an afternoon of culture and entertainment for couples and busy families.
