Veterans Reading Groups

8The humanities can play an important role in exploring the unique issues and concerns faced by our nation’s veterans. With a large population of service men and women living and working in North Carolina, we recognize the importance of supporting this community.

Using literature and story to foster connection, our Veterans Reading Groups aim to reduce feelings of isolation and provide context in which to explore issues regarding military service and everyday life. Veterans Reading Groups are led by and available for veterans, further providing a safe space for open dialogue.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, no groups are currently meeting in person.

This is a program of the North Carolina Center for the Book and is provided by NC Humanities with assistance from the State Library of North Carolina. This program was created by the Maine Humanities Council.
