Advocate

Founded in 1972 as the North Carolina affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), NC Humanities is one of 50+ state and jurisdictional humanities councils in the U.S. charged with bringing the public humanities into local communities.

NC Humanities receives major support from the NEH in addition to the generous support of individuals, corporations, and foundations and relies on this funding to keep grant and program opportunities accessible and operational.

On average, our return on investment for every federal dollar NEH provides to NC Humanities is four to one. We are able to use the funding provided by NEH to directly invest in local North Carolina communities, helping them to grow and prosper.

Here’s how you can advocate for NC Humanities, NEH and the humanities in North Carolina!

Your story makes a powerful difference. Please contact your local or Congressional representatives and tell them you support NC Humanities, NEH, and other cultural organizations! You can share how you,  your organization, or your community has positively benefited from NC Humanities grants and programs.

Don’t know your Congressional district? Find it here.

If you would like to notify us about a conversation you had with your representatives, please email our Development and Communications Manager at mmoore@nchumanities.org.

Thanks for your support!
