Advocate

As the North Carolina affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH), North Carolina Humanities is charged with bringing the public humanities to local communities. We receive major support from the NEH and we rely on this funding to keep grant and program opportunities low-cost and operational.

Your story makes a powerful difference. Thank you for sharing it.

Please contact your local or Congressional representatives and tell them you support North Carolina Humanities, the NEH, and other cultural organizations in our state. Please share how you, your organization, or your community has positively benefited from North Carolina Humanities grants and programs.

If you would like to notify us about a humanities conversation you have had, please email our Development and Communications Manager at mmoore@nchumanities.org.

Volunteer

Become a volunteer Board Trustee!

North Carolina Humanities annually seeks nominations to join its dynamic and dedicated volunteer board of trustees.

North Carolina Humanities’ board is composed of volunteer trustees who are committed to enhancing the cultural life of North Carolinians and whose background, expertise, and leadership provide NC Humanities with the tools to be dynamic and successful. Trustees serve a renewable, three-year term, and five trustees are appointed by the Governor of North Carolina. Nominees must be current residents of North Carolina at the start of their service and be supportive of NC Humanities’ mission and values. Self-nominations and nominations of others are accepted.

If you are interested in nominating someone to join our board or in joining our board yourself, please contact Executive Director Sherry Paula Watkins at spwatkins@nchumanities.org for more information.
